Casner Canyon is a hard hike in Arizona's Coconino National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 2.6 miles, with a total elevation gain of 534 feet from a low point of 5,773 feet to a high of 6,315 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced, and the climb is the main challenge. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mund's Park, at a similar elevation, show May highs around 69°F and October highs around 66°F, with fewer wet days than the summer months. Casner Canyon #11 lies about half a mile away, and Schnebly Hill Overlook, a climbing area, is under a mile off. Allens Bend #111 and the Beach climbing area are both about 1.5 miles away.
