Stewart Campground is a cool, shady streamside camp in the Douglas Ranger District of Coronado National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It sits under the canopy of Arizona cypress and sycamore trees, and the nearby Cave Creek Nature Trail and South Fork Trail make it a good base for birding. The campground is set up for small groups. Sites hold up to two vehicles and 10 people, and stays are limited to 14 days. It accommodates small RVs of 16 feet or less and tents, with no hook-ups. Trailers are limited to 16 feet. Pack it in, pack it out. Pack and saddle stock are not allowed, and water is turned off at the first freeze for the winter months. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Portal show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 75°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 12 and 13 a month. Several other camps and hikes are close by. Portal Bunkhouse, Idlewilde and the Portal CCC House are all about 0.6 to 0.8 miles away, and the Portal Trail is about 1.1 miles off.
