Long Valley Work Center Group Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Mogollon Rim Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, about 6,950 feet up in a stand of ponderosa pines. It's a large site, built to hold 300 people, with picnic tables, grills and a big fire pit. The grounds also sit on the site of a historic Forest Service work center, and the cool pine setting makes it a welcome break from the valley heat below. Summer is the warmest stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation show July highs around 83°F with lows near 55°F, while winter highs sit in the mid-40s. Vault toilets are the only on-site restroom facility. A fee is charged for use. The Mogollon Rim Ranger District's lake fishing area is about 2 miles away, and the Maxwell hike is about 5 miles off. Climbers can head to West Clear Creek, about 5.5 miles away, and the Moqui campground is roughly 9 miles away.
