The Dumps is a climbing area in Alabama, about 1.4 miles from the community of Half Acre Estates. It is a single route, Cheese Grater, a trad climb rated 5.13a, with the first ascent by Andrew Ellison. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 71°F in April to 74°F in October, while July and August average highs near 88°F. That station sits about 450 feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the climb run a little cooler. Honeycomb Island, about 5 miles away, and Muscle Boulder, about 6 miles away, are the closest climbing areas. For hiking, Honeycomb Trail and Thompson Loop are both within about 5 miles.
