Scranton

Scranton is a ghost town in Tooele County, Utah, tucked into Barlow Canyon close to the Juab County line. It began as a mining town but proved short-lived, and the site has been without permanent residents for well over a hundred years.

Despite that long abandonment, visitors will find that a number of the original structures have held up reasonably well, making Scranton a more tangible glimpse into early Utah mining history than many comparable sites. The canyon setting adds atmosphere to the experience.

Access to remote canyon locations like this is typically easiest in the warmer months, with winter conditions in the surrounding terrain likely making roads or tracks impassable.
