Roosevelt

Tucked along Texas Loop 291 about 16 miles west of Junction in Kimble County, Roosevelt is a small historical community that has held on with a population of just nine residents, plus a handful of ranching families living beyond the community limits. Despite its modest size, it carries an official recognition: Recorded Texas Historic Landmark number 4343 was designated in 1997 to commemorate the community's place in the state's history.

Visitors today will find a living, if quiet, settlement rather than a fully abandoned ghost town. Local businesses including Simon Brothers Cafe, Lyssy & Eckel Feeds, and Allison Well Drilling still operate here, giving the community a modest working presence that sets it apart from many historic Texas crossroads that have disappeared entirely.
