Emerald Lake Trail is a 13.8-mile out-and-back hike in Wyoming's Shoshone National Forest, within the Wind River Ranger District and the Washakie Wilderness. The route climbs from a low point of 8,442 feet to a high of 10,674 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,217 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated hard. The trail is on natural surface and allows horses, but not bikes. It is open year-round, so plan for conditions that change with the seasons. Emerald Creek, a canoeing spot, lies about 2.5 miles away, and the Wiggins Fork Trail and Wiggins Fork paddling route are each about 2.7 miles off. Double Cabin Campground, roughly 4.5 miles away, offers a place to stay.
