The A and W Trail is a short, easy hike in Wyoming's Teton National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It is an out-and-back route of about 1.1 miles, with a low point of 6,153 feet and a high of 6,255 feet, so the climb is a gentle 125 feet one way. The trail is open year-round, and its natural surface makes it suitable for both horses and bikes. That makes it a flexible option for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jackson run to highs around 79°F in July and 78°F in August, with no snow days from June through September. Winter is cold and snowy, with January highs near 26°F and lows around 6°F. Wilson Canyon lies just 0.1 mile away, and South Fork Leeks Canyon is about 2.3 miles off. For fishing, the Jackson Ranger District is roughly 4.4 miles away, and the Snake River is about 6 miles away.
