Northern Panhandle is a bouldering area in West Virginia, about 0.2 miles from the town of Woodsdale. It sits within the state's northern panhandle, close to Wheeling, and is a compact spot for climbers looking for bouldering rather than a full-day outing. The area has two bouldering routes, both rated V2 or V2- on the V scale. They are "Between the Trees" and "Bouncing Ball," and both are boulder problems. The climbing is straightforward, with no long approaches or trail to plan around. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from the nearby Wheeling weather station show May highs around 74°F and September highs near 79°F, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. Other climbing is close by. Popcorn Boulder is 0.8 miles away, and Roadside Boulder and Bear Rock Lake Bouldering (Wheeling) are both within about 8 miles. Paddlers can find Little Wheeling Creek roughly 5 miles off.
