First Wall is a climbing area in Coopers Rock State Forest in West Virginia, on land managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It is one of a cluster of climbing areas set close together within the forest, which makes it easy to combine with neighboring walls in a single outing. For comfortable conditions, early fall is a good bet. Typical September averages from the Morgantown weather station about 6 miles away are a high of 77°F and a low of 56°F, with fewer wet days than any other month. That station sits roughly 850 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures at First Wall run cooler. Tilted Tree, Coral Area and Moby's Dick Area are all about 0.1 mile away. The Cimbing Access Trail starts at a similar distance and links the climbing areas.
