Lone Fir Campground is a short, easy loop in the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in Washington, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about half a mile long, with a total elevation gain of 21 feet, and it sits at roughly 3,600 feet, making it a low-effort outing for cross-country skiers. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.14 miles into the route, where the grade reaches about 5%. The high point is 3,629 feet, and the loop ends with a small loss of 56 feet. The route is rated easy, and the Forest Service manages the land. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Mazama show May highs around 68°F and September highs around 74°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. That station sits well below the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. The Early Winters Trail is about 0.4 miles away, and National Forest Development Road 400 is about 1.4 miles off. Climbers can head to Silver Star and Wine spires, about 2.5 miles away, and paddlers to Early Winters Creek, about 3.5 miles away.
