Write-off Rock is a climbing area in Washington's Iron Horse State Park, within the Snoqualmie Ranger District of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The land is managed by State Park and Recreation, and the area sits among several other climbing spots, with Substation and Deception Crags each about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is all sport, and the routes run from 5.4 to 5.9 on the YDS scale. Among the named routes are Flammable Pajamas at 5.4, Crotchety Old Men at 5.7 and Knife in the Toaster at 5.9. The area is small, so it works well as a short stop rather than a full-day outing. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from the Cedar Lake weather station, about 4.6 miles away, show July and August highs near 70°F with only eight or nine wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and regular snow days. Hall Creek Trail and Zig Zag Trail are both within half a mile for a walk before or after climbing. Tinkham Campground, about 5 miles away, offers a place to stay, and the Cedar River, roughly 5 miles off, is an option for paddling.
