Steam Roller Cave is a bouldering area in the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness, within the Skykomish Ranger District of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington. The Forest Service manages the land, and the cave sits among several other climbing areas, including The Machete and Whiteface Cluster, both about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is all bouldering, with six routes spread across a range of grades from V0 to V11-12. The easiest is Little Mama at V0, and the hardest is the Steam Roller Sit Project at V11-12. Big Papa is a V5, and the Steam Roller Stand Project is V9-10. The area is a compact cluster of boulders rather than a long route, so it works well as a short stop for climbers already in the wilderness. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the Stampede Pass weather station, about 35 miles away, show July and August highs near 68 to 69°F with only seven or eight wet days a month, while winter brings highs around 32°F and rain on 20 days a month. The Iron Goat Trail is about 1.4 miles away for a hike, and the Grace Lakes Cat Track is about 1.7 miles away for cross-country skiing. Paddlers can reach the Tye River about 2.2 miles off, and Evergreen Mountain Lookout offers camping about 8.2 miles away.
