Eight-mile Buttresses is a climbing area in Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, within the Wenatchee River Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land. The area sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Eight-Mile Buttress, Lower and Crack du Jour both about 0.1 mile away, and Nosebleed about 0.2 mile away. Eightmile Group Site, a campground, is about 0.4 mile off. The climbing here is traditional, and two routes are listed: Stump Route at 5.6 and Hello Kitty at 5.10b. Both are trad routes. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. July and August typically average highs around 82°F with only about three wet days a month, according to typical averages from a nearby weather station at Plain, WA. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet lower than the area, so temperatures on the buttresses run cooler. Nearby camping includes Eightmile Group Site and Bridge Creek Group Site, about a mile away. Hikers can try Bruce's Boulder Trail at 1.8 miles or Fourth Of July Creek Trail at 2.5 miles.
