Eight-Mile Buttress, Lower is a climbing area in the Wenatchee River Ranger District of Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the buttress sits among several climbing areas that make this a cluster of options for climbers. The routes here range from 5.6 to 5.13b, with four traditional climbs and one sport route. The Tree Route is the easiest at 5.6, and Mr Tremendous and Ms Tremendous are both 5.10b. Lazy Boy is a 5.11c trad route, and the sport option is Pimp Juice at 5.13b. The area is close to other climbing, with Crack du Jour and Nosebleed both about 0.1 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Leavenworth show July and August highs around 87°F with lows near 50°F and only a few wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet lower than the buttress, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Winter is cold, with January highs near 34°F and lows around 19°F. The Eightmile Group Site campground is 0.3 mile away, and Bridge Creek Group Site is about a mile off. For a walk, Bruce's Boulder Trail is 1.9 miles away, and Peshastin Creek, a paddling spot, is about 8 miles away.
