Porter is a mountain biking route in Washington, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources, about 3 miles from the nearest town. It is a steady out-and-back ride of about 6.5 miles, with a total climb of roughly 1,250 feet. The route starts and ends near 1,740 feet, and the high point is 1,747 feet, which makes it a short climb overall. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical July and August highs reach about 78°F with only around five wet days a month, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Olympia. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures up high run cooler. Winter brings frequent rain, with highs in the mid-40s and about 20 wet days a month from December through February. C-2710, a short ride at 0.1 mile, and C-2714, at 0.5 mile, sit close by, and the Porter Tie Trail, a hike about 0.6 mile away, makes an easy addition. Paddlers can find South Fork Porter Creek about 2.7 miles off.
