Gatton Creek Campground sits on the south shore of Lake Quinault, next to Gatton Creek, a small rainforest stream. The Forest Service manages the site within Olympic National Forest, about a mile from the town of Quinault. Campsites and picnic units line the lake shore, with views across the water to the forested slopes of Olympic National Park. The campground has five walk-in campsites for tents and three picnic units. Vault toilets are the only on-site amenity. A fee is charged for recreation here. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 73°F with only eight to nine wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on 20 or more days. The Gatton Creek Campground/Day Use Area is just 0.1 mile away, and the Gatton Creek hike starts 0.2 mile off. Falls Creek Campground and Wright's Canyon Trail are both about 0.4 mile away.
