Right Corridor is a bouldering area in Virginia, set within the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Middle Dragon, Mayflower Boulder and Arrow Boulder Area all about 0.1 mile away. The Corridor & Beyond and McAfee's Knob Trail are also close by, so it's easy to pair a bouldering session with a hike. The climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes ranging from V0 to V5. The Test is the easiest at V0, and Footwork 101 is the hardest at V5. Eye On The Ball and Scary Mantle are both V3, and Pocket Arete is V4. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Roanoke show May highs around 76°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the mid-80s. That station sits about 800 feet lower than the corridor, so temperatures on the boulders run cooler. There is no fee to climb here. The area is open year-round, and Straight Branch Iron Mountain Shelter is about 5 miles away for anyone planning an overnight stay.
