The Arborist is a bouldering area in Vermont's Manchester Ranger District, part of the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the climbing sits within a cluster of bouldering spots, with Area 51 and Crash Site each about 0.1 mile away. The routes here are all boulders, and they range from V0 to V4 on the V scale. The five routes include Instant Shoes (Bare Feet) at V0, Stay Packed at V2, Tree Hugger at V3 and Ace Arborist at V4. The boulders are the main draw, so plan on a day of climbing on rock rather than a long hike. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Peru, at a similar elevation, run to highs around 75°F in July with lows near 56°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. Nearby, the Spruce Peak hike is about 1.3 miles away, and Bromley Shelter offers camping at 1.6 miles. The Appalachian Trail and Long Trail pass within about 2 miles, and Hapgood Pond is roughly 5 miles off for fishing.
