Pond View is an easy hike of about a mile on an out-and-back route in the Rochester Ranger District of the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests in Vermont. The trail rises about 60 feet from a low point near 1,540 feet to a high of 1,618 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.3 miles in, where the grade reaches 8 percent. Bikes are allowed, so the route works for hikers and riders alike. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from May 1 through November 1. For comfortable weather, summer is the best bet. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Rutland show July highs around 80°F and lows near 56°F, though that station sits nearly 1,000 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. Several other hikes start within a few tenths of a mile, including Ohly Roller, Paca's Path and Mind Eraser. Climbers will find Regular Boulder and Right Ridge about 0.9 miles away.
