Slab Bridge Brook is a 2.6-mile out-and-back hike in Vermont's Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests, within the Rochester Ranger District. The trail climbs from about 1,577 feet to a high point of 2,102 feet, with a total elevation gain of 877 feet over the course of the round trip. The steepest stretch comes early, around 0.33 miles in, where the grade reaches 21 percent. The route is rated hard, and the trail surface is natural, so expect a rougher, more technical walk than a smooth path. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Rochester show July highs around 79°F with lows near 55°F, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the high ground run cooler. The trail is open year-round, and the trip takes about 1.5 hours. Morrill Brook and Hayes Brook are both within a third of a mile, and Chittenden Brook Campground is about 2.6 miles away. Climbers can find Vermont's Lonely Rocks - Central roughly 1.7 miles off.
