UMWA Boulder is a climbing area in Utah on land managed by the State Land Board. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Small One, The and Flu, The both within about a quarter mile. That makes it a compact base for a day of rock in this corner of the state. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall stand out. Typical averages from the nearby Castle Dale weather station run to highs around 75°F in May and 81°F in September, and the station sits roughly 1,200 feet lower than the Boulder area, so temperatures up top run cooler. Beyond climbing, Roans Canyon offers a hike about 2 miles away and Trail Canyon a little farther at 4 miles. Joes Valley Pavilion Group Campground, about 5.5 miles off, is the closest place to camp, and Grassy Lake Fishing Site lies roughly 8 miles away.
