Roans Canyon is a hard hike of about 3.4 miles on an out-and-back route in the Ferron Ranger District of Manti-La Sal National Forest in Utah. The trail rises about 1,300 feet, from a low point of roughly 7,586 feet to a high of about 8,915 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail has a natural surface. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 74°F with lows near 41°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-20s. Bikes are allowed on this trail. The Hulk, a climbing area, sits just 0.1 mile away, and Lower Hillside is 0.3 mile off. Trail Canyon is about 2.7 miles away, and Joes Valley Pavilion Group Campground is about 5.2 miles away.
