Western Washing Machine Boulder is a bouldering area in Utah's Manti-Lasal National Forest, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Rick and Morty Boulder and The Wash Boulders each about 0.1 mile away. The area has five boulder problems, all rated from V1 to V6. Western Washing Machine is the V4 route that gives the area its name, and Double Loader is the hardest at V6. The other routes are All Washed Up (V1), Morphomatic (V3-4) and Himalayan Quartz (V4+). Ben Sachs and Trevor Markel are among the climbers who have first ascents on the list. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the Castle Dale weather station, about 9 miles away, show May highs around 75°F and October highs near 68°F, while July averages about 91°F. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures up high run cooler. Nearby, the Des-Bee Dove-Mine hike is about 1.5 miles away and Roans Canyon about 3.8 miles. Joes Valley Pavilion Group Campground is about 8.4 miles off, and Huntington Creek offers canoeing about 6.6 miles away.
