Salt Creek Canyon is a climbing area in Utah's Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, within the Spanish Fork Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the canyon sits among a cluster of trails, campgrounds and paddling water. The climbing here is all sport, with seven routes spread across a range of about 5.6 to 5.9 on the YDS scale. Jason and Kristi Stevens did the first ascents of most of them, including Spider Pig and Twig and Berries at 5.6 and Sasquatch at 5.7. Telestial Depressions is 5.8, and Carpal Masochism and Himmlers Remains are both 5.9. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from the nearby Nephi weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 78°F, while July averages near 89°F. That station sits about 850 feet lower than the canyon, so temperatures up high run cooler. Salt Creek, a canoeing route, and Mahogany Hill, a hike, are both about 1.6 miles away. Ponderosa Uinta campground is 1.9 miles off, and Schoolhouse Rock, another climbing area, is about 6 miles away.
