The Melting Mud Wall is a sport climbing area in the Salt Lake Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah, about 0.1 mile from the East Hellgate and Melting Mud West climbing areas. It sits at roughly the same elevation as the Alta weather station, about 8,700 feet, and its 20 routes run from 5.8 to 5.12a, with the median around 5.10+. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from the Alta station show July highs near 73°F with lows around 50°F, while winter highs stay near freezing. Several other climbing areas and trails lie close by. The Cardiff Pass Trail is about 0.2 mile away, and Albion Basin campground is about 2 miles off. Lake Solitude and Lake Catherine, both about 2.5 miles away, offer fishing.
