Upper Captain Ahab Trail is a mountain biking route on Bureau of Land Management land in Utah's Moab Field Office, about 2 miles from the town of Moab. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs about 350 feet from a low point of 4,640 feet to a high of 4,911 feet, and the round trip covers roughly 4.3 miles. It is rated hard, so plan on a ride that demands both endurance and skill. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Moab show October highs around 74°F with lows near 42°F, and April is similar at about 72°F by day and 43°F at night. That station sits roughly 860 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The trail sits close to several other destinations.
