West Beavers is a hard hike in Utah's Fishlake National Forest, within the Richfield Ranger District. The route is an out-and-back of about 19.6 miles with an elevation gain of 1,918 feet, climbing from a low of 7,296 feet to a high of 8,691 feet. The trail is on natural surface and is open year round. Bikes are allowed, so it works as a ride as well as a walk. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Salina, about 12 miles away and roughly 1,100 feet lower, run from highs near 73°F in June to around 80°F in July, with July lows near 53°F. That station sits lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The hike is close to several other places. Secret Corral is under a mile away, Salina Creek offers canoeing about 1.3 miles off, and the Great Western Trail (D-4) lies about 2.7 miles away. For an overnight base, Salina Creek Second Crossing Trailhead is about 4.5 miles away.
