Upper Spring Canyon is a hard out-and-back hike in Utah's Fishlake National Forest, within the Fremont River Ranger District. The route is about 16 miles long, with an elevation gain of 864 feet from the low point at 5,874 feet to the high point at 6,750 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 7.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 22 percent. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Torrey show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 76°F, while July averages climb to 87°F and winter highs sit in the upper 30s. Cooks Mesa Trail and the Cooks Mesa climbing area are both about 1.3 miles away. The Great Western Trail - Utah is about 4.3 miles off, and Fremont River Cua Dispersed campground is about 3.3 miles away.
