Sunset Canyon is a hard hike in Utah's Fishlake National Forest, within the Fillmore Ranger District. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 6,774 feet to about 9,713 feet, a total gain of 2,921 feet over 7.8 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced and open year-round. Bikes are allowed, so the trail works for hikers and mountain bikers alike. The climb is steep, and the high point sits well above the starting elevation, so plan for a long day on foot or on two wheels. Several other destinations sit close by. Trail 1442 and the Cottonwood - Sunset Tie are mountain biking routes within a mile, and Walker Canyon is a hike about 1.7 miles away. For an overnight stay, Adelaide Campground is roughly 5.8 miles off.
