Halfway Wash is an easy out-and-back hike on Bureau of Land Management land within the St. George Field Office in southern Utah. The route is short and low, with a total length of about 1.8 miles and an elevation gain of about 105 feet from the low point at 2,916 feet to the high point at 3,051 feet. It makes a quick addition to a day spent exploring the surrounding trails and climbing areas. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby St. George weather station run to highs around 75°F in April and 79°F in October, while summer highs climb into the low 100s in July and August. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the route's high point, so temperatures on the trail run slightly cooler. The Turtle Wall, Beck Hill and Chuckwalla hikes all lie about 0.1 mile from Halfway Wash, and the Shady Side West climbing area is about half a mile away.
