Whiting Campground sits in a grove of maple and cottonwood trees in the Spanish Fork Ranger District of Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah, managed by the Forest Service. The setting is pleasant, and the site offers a base for a range of outdoor pursuits, including horse trails, hiking trails, wildlife viewing and fishing. Vault toilets are the only listed amenity, and firewood, grills and picnic tables are also on hand. A fee is charged for stays. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 74°F with lows near 46°F in May to highs around 81°F with lows near 51°F in September. That station sits about 720 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures at the camp run a little cooler. Left Fork Maple Canyon and Right Fork Maple Canyon are both hikes about half a mile away. Within roughly 3.5 miles are the Seclusion climbing area, the Hobble Creek paddling route, and the Cherry campground.
