Uinta River Group Campground sits about 25 miles from Roosevelt, Utah, on the Roosevelt Ranger District of Ashley National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the site sits at about 7,600 feet along the Uinta River. It's a base for fishing and trail exploring in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Moon Lake weather station show July and August highs around 77°F with lows in the upper 40s, while winter highs stay near freezing. Vault toilets are the only facility on site. A fee is charged for stays. Several trails start close by. The Lily Pad Trail is about 3.3 miles away, the Uinta River Trail and Chain Lakes-Atwood are each about 3.6 miles off, and the Old Chain Lakes Trail is about 4.4 miles away.
