The Stegasaur is a bouldering area within Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site in Texas, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas, with Sign of the Choss, Perverted Sanctuary and Mopboys all about 0.1 mile away. The name of the area comes from the Stegasaur route, a V7 boulder problem. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes ranging from V4 to V10. The Stegasaur itself is a V7, and Blueberry Wine is the hardest at V10. Rainer Maria, a V8-9, was first climbed by Rich Heisler in 2004. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in El Paso show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 76°F, while June and July average highs near 93°F with more wet days. The Nature Trail and Pond Trail are both about 0.2 mile away, and the North Mountain Trail is about 0.3 mile off.
