Castle Rock is a climbing area in Tennessee, about 2 miles from the town of Jasper. It sits among several other named climbing areas, including The Moat, Bonny and Clyde Wall- AKA Drifters Wall and Predator Wall, all within about a tenth of a mile. That makes it easy to pair with other routes in the same cluster. The climbing here is sport, and the two routes listed, Creature Feature at 5.13c and Apes on Acid at 5.13d, sit at the upper end of the 5.13 grade range. Both are sport routes, so climbers should plan for bolted protection. For timing, fall is the most comfortable season. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Monteagle show October highs around 68°F with lows near 47°F, and September and October see the fewest wet days of the year. Winter is cold, with January highs in the mid-40s. Beyond the climbing, the Fiery Gizzard Trail is about 6 miles away, and paddlers can head to Big Fiery Gizzard Creek, roughly 8 miles off.
