The Fiery Gizzard Trail is a hard hike in Tennessee, about 4 miles from the town of Oak Grove. It is a point-to-point route of roughly 12 miles, with a total climb of about 1,300 feet and a high point of 1,849 feet. The trail is steady in its ascent, and the steepest stretch comes at about 6.6 miles, where the grade reaches 33 percent. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Monteagle weather station show May highs around 74°F and October highs around 68°F, with September and October seeing the fewest wet days of the year. Bikes are not allowed on this trail. Climbers will find White Wall and So What Area within a third of a mile. Paddlers can head to Big Fiery Gizzard Creek, about 3 miles away, and Raven Point Trail is about 4 miles off.
