Grundy Forest Day Loop is a short, easy hike in Grundy Forest in Tennessee, about a mile from the town of Lankford Town. The route is a point-to-point walk of roughly 1.2 miles, with a total elevation gain of 134 feet and a total loss of 212 feet. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 1.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 6 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Monteagle weather station show October highs around 68°F with lows near 47°F, and May highs around 74°F. The station sits at nearly the same elevation as the trail, so those figures are a fair guide to what to expect here. The trip takes about half an hour, and the route is not open to bikes. Dog Hole Trail and Raven Point Trail are both within about 2.5 miles. Paddlers can head to Big Fiery Gizzard Creek, about 4.3 miles away, and climbers will find Paradox Wall about 6 miles off.
