Cox Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Tennessee, about 0.8 miles from the town of Rugby. The trail is roughly 0.86 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 108 feet, and it starts at about 1,319 feet, rising to a high point of 1,357 feet before returning to the starting level. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically October and May, when typical averages from the nearby Allardt weather station run to highs around 68°F and 73°F, with fewer wet days than the rest of the year. That station sits about 290 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures on the trail may run slightly warmer. The hike takes about half an hour, and it makes an easy pairing with other trails in the area. White Oak Trail is about 0.3 miles away and Allerton Trail about 0.4 miles.
