The climb is out and back, about half a mile long, with a total gain of 44 feet from the start at 2,382 feet to the high point at 2,419 feet. The route is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.18 miles, a 7% grade. Winter is the natural season for this kind of outing. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Coudersport show January highs around 30°F with lows near 14°F, while February runs about 32°F by day and 15°F at night. The station sits roughly 270 feet lower than the hill, so temperatures on the summit run a little cooler. Big Fill Hollow Road, another cross-country ski route, lies about 0.3 miles away. Denton Hill Ski Trail and Billy Lewis Ski Trail are both hikes about 0.4 miles off, and the Allegheny River, about 6 miles away, offers canoeing.
