Bigelow Trail is a short, hard mountain biking route in Rothrock State Forest in central Pennsylvania, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The trail is about half a mile long, with a total climb of 136 feet, and it's an out-and-back that starts and ends at nearly the same elevation. The route is short but steep in places. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.14 miles, with a 7% grade. That makes it a challenging ride for the distance, and the climb is roughly 68 feet one way. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in State College show July highs around 81°F with lows near 63°F, and the station sits about 1,000 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Pigpile Trail is just 0.1 mile away, and Sassafras Lower Trail and Peep Trail are each about 0.7 mile off. For an overnight stay, Greenwood Furnace Camp is about 4.3 miles away.
