The trail is an out-and-back that runs about 4 miles round trip, with a one-way climb of roughly 150 feet and a total elevation gain of about 450 feet. The route is rated expert, and the climb is steady, with the steepest stretch at about 5% grade around the 2-mile mark. The most comfortable months for a ride are typically late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in State College show September highs around 72°F with lows near 54°F, and July highs around 81°F. That station sits about 650 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the path run cooler.
