Snow Park Access Trail

Snow Park Access Trail is a short, flat route in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Hood River Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back of about 0.3 miles with a total elevation gain of about 25 feet, so it works as a quick entry point to the backcountry skiing network on this side of Mt. Hood. The trail runs from about 4,297 feet to about 4,337 feet, and the climb is mostly flat. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.09 miles, with a grade of about 5 percent. The route is rated easy. Winter and early spring bring the most consistent snow, with typical January highs around 37°F and lows near 26°F at the Government Camp weather station, about 6 miles away. Summer is much drier and warmer, with July and August highs near 70°F and only about four wet days a month. Meadow Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Meadows Creek Trail junction is 0.2 mile off. Badger Lake campground and Alpine Campground, both about 3 to 4 miles away, are options for overnight stays.
