Right Side is a climbing area in Smith Rock State Park in Oregon, managed as city land. It sits alongside other named climbing areas, including Left Side, (v) Monument Area and (yy) Basalt Rimrock, each about 0.1 mile away, which makes this corner of the park a compact base for exploring several different pockets of rock. The climbing here is a mix of traditional and sport routes, with 14 trad routes, 3 sport routes and 2 top-rope routes. Grades run from 5.6 to 5.12b. Among the routes are Jurrasic Park (5.6), Meat Grinder (5.8) and Insulation Arete (5.12b). Trad climbers will find plenty to work on, and the area's sport routes add a second style to the mix. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Redmond show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, with July and August peaking near 88°F. Several trails start close by. Wolf Tree Trail is about 0.2 mile away and Homestead Trail about 0.4 mile. For overnight stays, Skull Hollow campground is about 4 miles off.
