Koala Rock is a climbing area in central Oregon on Bureau of Land Management land within the Prineville Deschutes Field Office. It sits among several other climbing spots, with Southside, The Philosopher's Stone and (a) Dreamland all about 0.1 mile away. The area has 29 routes, with sport climbing making up 19 of them and trad climbing 10. Grades run from 5.4 to 5.13a/b, with the median at 5.10a. Among the named routes are Round River (5.4 trad), Suck my Kiss (5.9+ sport) and Purple Haze (5.13a/b sport). For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Redmond show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. Hikers can find the Homestead Trail and Canyon Trail about 0.7 mile away, and Skull Hollow campground is about 3.5 miles off.
