Winopee Lake Trail #16 is a hard out-and-back hike in Oregon's Three Sisters Wilderness, within the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and runs about 11.8 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of 1,819 feet. The high point is 5,306 feet, and the route starts at nearly the same elevation, 5,304 feet, so the climb is roughly split between the ascent and the descent. The trail is a steady climb, and the steepest stretch comes at about 2.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 14 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Wickiup Dam show July highs around 83°F with only about three wet days, while winter highs sit in the low 40s. The trip takes about five hours. Elk Creek is just 0.4 miles away, and Mink Lake and Snowshoe Lake are both within about 1.4 miles. For an overnight stay, West Cultus Boat-In is about 4.6 miles off.
