Crossing Way is a moderate 4.6-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Willamette National Forest, within the McKenzie River Ranger District. The route gains about 488 feet one way, with the high point at 5,076 feet and the low at 4,626 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, and the trailhead is Crossing Way Trailhead, which stays open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. At a nearby weather station, typical averages reach highs around 73 to 74°F in July and August, with only about three wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the mid-30s and 10 or more snow days a month from December through January. The Mcbee hike starts less than a mile away, and the Elk Creek canoeing and Elk Creek Trail are both within 2 miles. Box Canyon Guard Station Cabin, about 2.9 miles off, is the closest place to camp.
