Swing Donkey Trail is a short, easy hike in L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park in Oregon, on city-managed land. The trail is about half a mile long, and the round trip adds up to roughly a mile. It starts at about 1,074 feet and reaches a high point of 1,117 feet, with a total climb of about 236 feet and a steepest stretch of about 8% at around a third of a mile in. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Vernonia show July and August highs in the upper 70s with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on 20 days a month. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Several other routes start close by. Matchcutter's Lane and the Sidewinder Horseshoe are both about 0.1 mile away, and the Peavey Hook Bridleway is about 0.2 mile off. For paddling, the Nehalem River is about 6.6 miles away.
