Summit Lake Sno is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 5.5 miles in the Diamond Lake Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at roughly 5,732 feet and climbs to a high point of 5,751 feet, with a total gain of about 1,210 feet for the round trip. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes around mile 1.1, where the grade reaches about 8%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Odell Lake, which sits about 950 feet lower, show July and August highs in the low 70s with only about three wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days from December through February. The hike takes about 2.5 hours. High Divide lies about 1.3 miles away, and the Sawtooth Trail and Calamut Lake are both within about 2 miles. For an overnight stay, Timpanogas Lake Campground is about 3.5 miles off.
