Silent Creek is an easy hike in Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, within the Diamond Lake Ranger District. The trail is 2.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 197 feet, and it makes a short out-and-back from its start point. The route rises gently to a high point of about 5,279 feet before returning, with the steepest stretch around the 0.9-mile mark at about 5% grade. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail, and the Forest Service lists it as not accessible. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Chemult weather station, which sits a few hundred feet lower, show July highs around 83°F and September highs around 75°F, with only a few wet days a month. Winter is much cooler and wetter, with highs near freezing and 13 or 14 wet days in December and January. Horse Lake Trail and Mount Bailey Trail both start about 0.3 miles away, and Broken Arrow Campground is roughly 0.8 miles off. Diamond Lake Campground lies about 2.7 miles away.
