Oldenburg Lake is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest, within the Crescent Ranger District. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and sits at about 5,720 feet, with a high point of 5,732 feet and a total round-trip gain of about 45 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.1 mile from the start, and the whole route takes roughly half an hour. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Odell Lake show July and August highs around 73 to 74°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days. Waterbag Way Trail is about 0.7 mile away, and Tolo Creek Trail and Oldenberg Lake Trail #3845 are both within about 3 miles. For an overnight stay, Kelsay Valley Horse Camp is about 5 miles off.
